We are a Marengo Law Firm focused on family law and divorce, serving McHenry, and DeKalb. We start each case with a free consultation. The purpose of the free consultation is to get to know the client and also educate them about what the law is, what the possible outcomes are, what must be done to work towards each of those goals, and find out what they want to achieve.

We've found that people in divorce or family law situations are often confused, scared, and hurting but all of those emotions are made worse by not knowing about the law. The fear of the unknown added to the circumstances that the person finds themselves in makes for a crushing circumstance. By explaining the law very simply, and helping people understand what it's all about, then we are able to relieve some of the fear.

Once the fear is removed, then we can work on crafting a goal, or getting to the "win." People want to "win" in their divorce, but sometimes don't know what that "win" means, meaning that they stay unhappy and confused. Working toward a win helps get through the dark and often scary time of a divorce or family law situation.
